RESIDENCY APPLICATIONS

1646’s Residency offers artists & curators the possibility to stay and work/research at 1646 in the centre of The Hague. The Residency can last for a period of up to two months.

Deadlines

Applications can be submitted three times a year. The deadlines for these submissions are:

January 5th 2011 for the residency period May-June (2011)
June 5th 2011 for the residency period October-November (2011)
October 5th 2011 for the residency period of February-March (2012)

Applications

The application should consist of:

- Completed Residency application form (available to download at www.enter1646.com)
-Visual documentation of the artist/s work. This can be per email or on CD/DVD. If the artist works with video please attach video files to the email application or include on DVD if the application is sent per post.
-Artist’s statement
-Project/research proposal to be developed during the Residency. Please notice 1646 considers the Residency as an opportunity to research and not necessarily culminating in a final product or exhibition.

The application material should be send by regular post. Please notice application materials will not be sent back.

Facilities

1646 provides resident artists with:

-A 20m2 studio to work, located within 1646 venue. The studio has internet and artists can make use of 1646’s technical facilities (tools, HDV video camera, DVD players, beamers).
-Accommodation. 1646 provides a room very close to the gallery, with private cooking facilities, internet and shared toilet/shower.
-Working budget. A final decision on the working budget will be made depending on the project proposal. Up to a maximum of 1000 euros. Please notice that living and travelling expenses are covered by the artists themselves.
